Property maintenance service begins expansion across Scotland.

One Call Home Assist directors celebrate the growth of the business.A unique property maintenance service designed to help homeowners and landlords save thousands of pounds in repair bills has taken its first steps to expanding across the whole of Scotland.

Edinburgh-based One Call Home Assist, which was set up earlier this year as a low-cost alternative to fixed maintenance contracts offered by energy suppliers such as British Gas and Homeserve, has announced that it will now be offering the service to homeowners and landlords across Glasgow.

The service was originally designed to provide maintenance on properties across Edinburgh and the Lothians – with the possibility of expanding across the country in the future if it proved successful.

But following a wave of interest from property owners in Glasgow in recent weeks, One Call Home Assist’s directors have decided to step up their expansion plans months ahead of schedule.

Director Paul Greaves said: “We always envisaged that the One Call Home Assist service would be popular and we would eventually roll it out across Scotland, but this was a long-term plan. We didn’t expect to start offering the service outside Edinburgh and the Lothians until late 2009 at the earliest.

“However, we have been overwhelmed with the response we’ve had from landlords, property managers and general homeowners over the past month or so. Because it’s a deal that covers every kind of property maintenance need you may have – all for one fee – it’s becoming a big draw.

“We’ve found that some people who previously had boiler repair deals with companies like British Gas and Scottish Power are now cancelling their contracts and signing up with us instead. They are seeing us as a value-for-money company that they can call at any time to fix anything from a leaky tap to a broken boiler.

“Many landlords and property managers are also signing up, because we take away the hassle of providing maintenance for their properties. It means that instead of the landlords getting a call from their tenants when something goes wrong, every query comes directly to One Call Home Assist.

“Due to the success we have had in Edinburgh, we have now started taking enquiries from further afield, including a number of property companies in Glasgow. We are expecting to get quite a few new policies over there within the coming weeks, which we will be able to cover from our headquarters in Edinburgh.

“When we have taken on a significant number of new policies in Glasgow, we then plan to set up a dedicated base on the West coast which will drive forward our growth across Scotland.”

One Call Home Assist was launched in March as a value-for-money rival to expensive maintenance contracts offered by energy suppliers such as British Gas and Homeserve. With the contract, all emergency repair work to electrical, plumbing and heating systems are covered, as well as general maintenance issues.  The contracts also cover all PAT and gas safety testing.

The service offers a range of fixed prices contracts depending on size of the property and type of maintenance cover required – with an all-in contract for a one-bed flat costing £32.99 a month (inc VAT).  All the work is carried out by One Call Home Assist’s expert in-house contractor teams who operate on a round the clock basis from their base in Edinburgh.

One Call Home Assist has been launched by Edinburgh-based One Call Trade Services, one of Scotland’s leading all trades contractors providing insurance repairs, maintenance and renovations to clients throughout the UK.
