Summer Shines Bright for Property Market

Warners Solicitors and Estate Agents Press releases

PR in EdinburghREACTION from Warners Solicitors & Estate Agents to the publication of the latest Registers of Scotland UK House Price Index report for August.

David Marshall, Operations Director with Warners, said the fact that – compared with July – there was a near 21% increase in sales and 1.3% rise in average prices in August showed how sellers had really shone over the summer period.

He said: “The consistent pattern over the first six months of 2016 was one of demand from buyers outstripping the supply of properties coming onto the market, but during the summer that situation was exacerbated.

“Over the summer, we saw a dip in the number of homes coming onto the market, with many families heading off on holiday to enjoy the sun.

“But the number of buyer enquiries we were receiving remained as high as it was between April and June though, meaning that the excess of demand over supply grew further.

“As a result sellers, who were already in a strong position in the market, saw their position strengthen further during July and August.

“That naturally exerted an upward pressure on prices and helped to shift more properties – a trend reflected in our own Warners Market Report for September.”

Warners operates three property centres in Edinburgh and is one of the capital’s leading estate agents for property transactions.
