CALA Homes (East) release plans to develop affordable housing in Fife village
PLANS to bring new homes to a popular coastal Fife village have been submitted.
A detailed blueprint for 85 homes to the south of Aberdour Main Street, including 25% affordable housing, has been lodged with Fife Council by homebuilder CALA Homes (East).
CALA’s plans, which incorporate extensive open space to reflect the semi-rural setting on the eastern edge of Aberdour, follow on from the approval of Planning Permission in Principle, granted in May 2019.
The layout has been sensitively designed to ensure that views across the development towards both Inchcolm Abbey and Aberdour Obelisk are maintained.
Aberdour’s Main Street will also be widened along the frontage of the site to provide additional on-street parking bays.
Steven Cooper, Planning Manager at CALA Homes (East), said: “We have been working hard to ensure that the proposal meets the various requirements of the existing planning permission.
“We are confident that what we are putting forward is a sensitively designed development that will fully reflect its location on the fringes of Aberdour.
“The proposal will provide a variety of new homes, ranging from two bedroom cottage flats, three bedroom terrace, three bedroom semi-detached, and four and five bedroom detached homes, with the ability to accommodate home working. The homes shall also include solar panels to achieve up to A rating.
“The site is exceptionally well connected, with bus stops and the railway station within a short walk, and the local primary school also in close proximity. We have been inundated with enquiries, including local residents, about the new homes from those looking to secure a new home in Aberdour.”
As part of the existing planning permission, CALA will make financial contribution towards Aberdour Primary School, provide new off-site pedestrian links, and contribute towards strategic transport projects in the area.
