A HOMEBUILDER is inviting a community to give feedback on plans for a significant new development by hosting an entirely online consultation event.

CALA Homes (East) is encouraging those living in and around Queensferry to log on to learn more about its proposals for a major expansion to the south of Builyeon Road on the southern edge of the town.

Identified in the Local Development Plan, the site is situated between the approaches for both the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing.

The site received a minded to grant Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) in February 2018 for up to 980 homes, employment land and provision for a much needed new primary school.

Responding to local demand, CALA is also looking to add a care home, discount foodstore, drive-thru restaurants, and petrol filling station to the proposal.

The planning approval is subject to approval of a revised Masterplan, which CALA is now seeking public comment.

Derek Lawson, Land Director with CALA, said: “We appreciate that current Covid-19 restrictions are restricting our ability to meet and discuss our proposals with the local community.

“We want to give local stakeholders the best possible chance to view, understand and respond to our plans prior to them being submitted in late October 2020.

“We are therefore inviting local residents to visit us from the comfort of their homes, via our dedicated website; www.cala-builyeonroad.co.uk.

“The website also allows comments to be submitted via an online feedback form, with comments able to be submitted until 09 October. We will be also hosting a ‘live chat’ event on Friday 02 October, from 3pm to 8pm, with CALA staff and its project team available to answer questions.”

Keith Giblett, Chair of the Queensferry and District Community Council, said: “The Community Council were critical of the previous Masterplans for the site. We have received a preview of the CALA proposals, and we believe they are much improved. We encourage the wider community to visit the website and have their say on what is a significant expansion of Queensferry.”

Total section 75 (planning gain) contributions for the masterplan area will exceed £11 million – which in addition to the delivery of the new primary school and local transportation improvements, sees significant contributions put towards other education provision and healthcare within Queensferry. 25% of the housing will also be for affordable provision, including social rent, mid-market rent, discounted sale or shared equity.

The community event will take place on Friday 2 October, between 3 and 8pm at: www.cala-builyeonroad.co.uk

Visitors to the site can type questions to members of the planning team through a live ‘chat’ system. Feedback can be left online or printed here: www.cala-builyeonroad.co.uk/feedback/

Feedback is invited no later than 09 October.
