A group of Edinburgh’s leading property solicitors has been celebrating after achieving coverage in an influential housing news blog.

The ELPG group – which is made up of five of the Lothians’ biggest solicitor estate agents – was featured in the Property Articles website, which ran a story about how buyers need to act quickly to avoid the Stamp Duty threshold.

The website reported on how the ELPG had warned prospective buyers that the Stamp Duty threshold on properties priced between £125,000 and £175,000 was being re-instigated on January 2010. John Lints, senior partner at the Lints Partnership, explained that – as sales need to be fully completed before the deadline – buyers only have a few weeks left to put an offer in on a property and avoid paying extra tax.
