PR photography helped swing it for successful golf campaign

Images captured the old and new of kids tournament – and caught the eye of the media
SOMETIMES the simplest pictures make the biggest impact.
The American-based organisation is committed to helping modern youngsters explore the possibilities offered by golf, including having fun, learning good etiquette, good sporting behaviour and taking up a healthy, outdoor past time.
So when its biggest tournament outside of America was due to touch down in Scotland, the historic home of golf, we wanted PR pictures that would help explain that mixture of modern and traditional.
So we kitted out one young player in the golfing attire of yesteryear, including a custom made Tweed cap, plus fours, brogues and old-fashioned, wooden-shafted club.
Then we posed him alongside the modern equivalent – this time a talented young female player with all of the modern kit on offer from U.S. Kids Golf, including state-of-the-art clubs customised for younger players.
The talented pair of young players strutted their stuff on the greens, fairways – and bunkers – of the acclaimed Gullane Golf Course in East Lothian, yielding one of our most successful ever set of shots we’ve been involved with.
Images from the suite of PR photography appeared in dozens of publications including newspapers across the UK and Europe, golf blogs, specialist magazines and on the U.S. Kids Golf website.
Years on the images are an evergreen attraction on our own website, attracting many visits every month without fail.
The success of those images persuaded U.S. Kids Golf to make photographs a centrepiece of every subsequent European Championship held in East Lothian. Photos taken ahead of each launch, as well as pictures during the competition, drive massive website traffic around the tournament.
Meanwhile the successs of the consecutive PR campaigns – including the all important PR photography – has won a clutch of public relations awards for our Edinburgh PR agency (including Best Sporting Campaign).
