Fast-paced, creative and unpredictable- Rachael reflects on her four week placement

Only four weeks ago I joined Holyrood PR on a PR internship hoping to find my feed in the fast paced communications industry- I can safely say I hit the ground running.

Every day I walked through the office doors, I was met with briefs and tasks, which made the day, go by in the blink of an eye.

Looking back on some of the tasks I’ve completed over the last four weeks, I feel really proud as previously I’d have imagined they were beyond me. The team supported me every step of the way, and I always got there in the end.

I have worked my way around Canva Graphics, understood SEO, conducted interviews, drafted press releases, and so much more. 

I have learned how to write in different styles, manage my time and work in a professional team.

AlthoughI’ve been studying public relations for the past four years, I had minimal experience in the industry. I have got to see first-hand that working in an agency is fast-paced, creative and unpredictable (in the best way).

This placement gave me an opportunity to gain so much confidence and I can’t believe how much I have fitted into four short weeks.

The team have supported me every step of the way and made me feel like a valuable member of the team. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for all their time and effort, giving me tutorials and providing me with valuable feedback every day.  

I can’t believe my four weeks are done but it has made me excited to start off my PR career. I have learned things that just can’t be taught in a classroom, and I’m leaving the placement with invaluable experience.
