Kirsten Lord, founder of The Physiotherapy Centre, which runs clinics in Edinburgh and Glasgow, has featured in the country’s two biggest newspapers.

She was quoted in both The Sun and the Daily Record after being sought out to comment on a new survey by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy showed many people were too scared to take time off work even when suffering chronic pain.

They survey showed many workers feared being branded as “workshy” and even worried they could lose their jobs.

Kirsten, one of Scotland’s most prominent physiotherapists, said the situation was worrying, because those with genuine problems could worsen their health issues by working through the pain barrier.

Kirsten featured in the papers – each read by around one million Scots per day – thanks to the profile raising media work of PR agency, Holyrood PR.

A leading Edinburgh physiotherapist has shown that PR in Scotland is not as painful as it sounds

Kirsten Lord from the Edinburgh and Glasgow Physiotherapy Centres, has commented on a grwoing trend of Scots working through the pain barrier in fear of losing their jobs.

Picked up by popular Edinburgh daily the Edinburgh Evening News, the article shows how employees are refusing to take time off amidst a competitive job market and a recent recession.

Kirsten who has over twenty years experience in the physiotherapy proffession, has noted that she is frequently treating people who have ignored the warning signs of conditions such as repetitive strain injury, back pain and neck pain.

The centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow specialise in pain relief, using a combination of therapies including physiotherapy, osteopathy, deep tissue massage and alternative therapies, to tailor a treatment programme to the needs of the individual.

Kirsten and her team of high qualified staff work holistically and take a personal and hands on approach to physiotherapy and pain relief.

The Physiotherapy Centre receives pain free PR Scotland in popular Edinburgh daily

Kirsten Lord, who runs The Edinburgh Physiotherapy Centre and The Glasgow Physiotherapy Centre, has been providing pain relief for chronic pain sufferers for over 20 years and the service she provides has been recognised by a two page feature in the Edinburgh Evening News.

Using a case study of one of Kirsten’s patients, the article shows not only how debilitating chronic pain can be, but also the positive affects that physiotherapy can have.

Katharine Ross, a mum of two from Edinburgh was reffered to Kirsten by a friend after months of taking pain relief pills and seeing little improvement. Now after just a few months Katharine is able to lead a pill free life, allowing her to enjoy her work and family time without pain.

Katharine quotes in the article; “I went to see Kirsten three months ago and since then its been fantastic and I’ve been off the painkillers. It was very different to the previous physio I’d had. It was more hands on and involved more than looking just at my lower back. She would focus on other parts of my back and my calf.

“I think because she was more interested in relieving my pain it also made me more motivated to use the percussions massager guns and to do the exercises at home, because with the best will in the world you might not alwys be doing them enough or properly.”

Chronic pain is pain lasting three or more months and Kirsten Lord adds: “A recent report from the Scottish cahrity Pain Concern shows there are almost eight million people in Britain living with chronic pain, yet most people don’t realise that any of the causes can be treated.

“Because people suffering from chronic pain usually have more complex problems, treatment by a physiotherapist with experience in chronic pain makes a huge difference. We’ve been working with chronic pain sufferers for almost 20 years and its a significant portion of our case load.

“The success can be life changing and Katharine is a case in point. She couldn’t have been on a lower ebb when she first came to see us, the pain was debilatating and the drug regime was intensive. She’s now doing things she never thought she would again.”

More information about chronic pain relief at both the Edinburgh and Glasgow Physiotherapy Centres can be found on their websites, as well as the complete range of therapies and treatments offered by both.

The full article can be found on the Scotsman website and was secured as part of a sustained PR and social media campaign acrried out by the Holyrood PR.
