10 MAR The HeraldAfter a busy week at Holyrood HQ most of the team had planned for a quiet weekend, however there was no chance of that for Account Executive Melissa Clark and I as we spent our Sunday with 600 school children, each armed with their very own set of pipes.

Our usual Sunday morning lie-ins were instead replaced with an early visit to the office to issue our media release about the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships which took place at Broughton High School and played host to over 90 competing schools from across the country.

Once we had made our calls to the media, we donned the tartan, consumed copious amounts of coffee and headed to the school armed with press releases and fully charged iPhones ready for the day ahead.

10 MAR The Times Pg 6 CROPThe atmosphere was electric as anticipation built and the bands finally faced the music after months of preparation for the competition.

The beaming smiles displayed by the bands were perfectly captured by The Herald, The Times & The Daily Mail and it was fantastic to see our hard work promoting the event had culminated in such a memorable and inspirational day for all involved.

So after co-ordinating the photography and videography, tweeting, face-booking and instagramming live updates throughout the day and even some celeb spotting (Craig Munro from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers) there was only one thing left to do… pick up a set of pipes ourselves.

With a little help from the Govan Schools Pipe Band (see our previous video to watch them in action) we gave it a go although it’s safe to say, by the sounds of things, we won’t be giving up our day jobs anytime soon. All in the name of PR!
