Happy ending to racing pigeon’s tale of woe helps Eagle Couriers bask in glowing headlines
DELIVERY experts enjoyed a windfall of positive headlines – after helping reunite a worried pigeon fancier with his prized bird.
Frank the racing pigeon was stranded 100 miles from home after being blown off course during the Berwick Old Bird race.
We spotted the potential in the feelgood story and shared the tale of the bird, dubbed “Fife Frank” and how it got hopelessly lost, leaving its owners in Lanarkshire worried about its safety.
Despite ending up in Cupar, Fife, the bird was eventually found by another pigeon fancier and its relieved owners notified. That’s when our client, Eagle Couriers, were called in and were able to reunite the hapless pigeon with its owners in just three hours.
News of Frank’s epic journey featured caught the imagination of regional and online media publications in Fife, Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders. Highlights of the coverage included:
- Online hits on The Courier, Fife Today, The Carluke Gazette and The Berwick Advertiser.
- Prime regional coverage included The Courier, Evening Telegraph, Berwickshire News, Fife Herald and the Citizen.
- A potential reach of more than 97,109 opportunities to see.
The bird’s burst of fame also helped spread the word of Eagle Couriers’ safe and speedy delivery services, with the positive coverage putting the company’s name in front of tens of thousands of potential customers, cementing its place as Scotland’s leading independent courier company.
