Cuddly toy Archie helped during premature baby scare
AS HOLYROOD PR’s most senior member of staff (he thinks it sounds better than oldest), founding director Raymond Notarangelo has lost his first cuddly toy.
But in Archie, he has a more than suitable replacement.
Archie was bought by Raymond on the day his first child, his son Lewis, was born (some 25 years ago). As well as being a symbolic first toy to bring into hospital, Archie has extra special significance for Raymond and his wife Liz.
Lewis was born six weeks premature and weighed less than five pounds – which meant he had to spend the first week of his life in a special baby care unit.
Lewis was so tiny that Archie was bigger than him. But over the next two-three weeks, Lewis put on weight and grew healthily – with Archie the teddy being the target size the doctors wanted him to reach.
So much so that on the day he was allowed home, Lewis measured the same size as Archie.
While that wee bundle of baby joy is now a strapping six-footer and Archie’s role in Lewis’ early life is all but forgotten, the cuddly toy still has a pride of place in Raymond’s bedroom.
