EDINBURGH legal firm Gibson Kerr, are celebrating glowing coverage thanks to advice PR.

The Edinburgh Evening News featured the family-run firm in a story about how Scots needed to be aware of the importance of making Power of Attorney agreements.

The story used quotes from Gibson Kerr about the need for more people to be aware of Power of Attorney and how to make sufficient arrangements when they become incapable of running their affairs. Partner Scott Rasmusen said that many people only make one Power of Attorney agreement, which does not cover them sufficiently in the event of a disaster.

The coverage in the Evening News was the result of a sustained advice PR campaign.

The Evening News published a story about how people in Edinburgh needed to ensure they made sufficient Power of Attorney agreements – unless they want put themselves and their families at risk.

Gibson Kerr partner Scott Rasmusen told the paper that many people in Scotland did not have any Power of Attorney agreement in place at present, and those that did tended to only have one agreement set up. He added that this left elderly people vulnerable, as they would not have a back up in place if the worst happened.

The firm was quoted extensively in a double-page article in the newspaper, which explained how elderly people in the Capital should review their legal options before the go into full time care.

Gibson Kerr partner Scott Rasmusen told the Herald & Post that people needed to ensure they had made all of the necessary legal decisions to ensure their affairs would be protected when they go into elderly care. He added that the main legal issues to consider are Power of Attorney agreements, up-to-date wills and executries.

Partner Fiona Rasmusen said that that by posting information about their case online, couples ran the risk of prolonging their settlement and potentially losing  out financially in the long run.
