Property developer’s plans to protect a colony of newts makes the headlines with the help of Edinburgh PR agency
Banks Property, a Hamilton based property developer, has grabbed plenty of media attention for its plans to protect the current population of Great Crested Newts in Lanarkshire – with the help of our PR agency in Edinburgh.
After being informed that a colony of Great Crested Newts inhabit their proposed property development in Glenboig, the Banks Group plan to include an innovative underpass under their link road to protect the rare creatures.
With a granted licence they are a step closer to being granted construction of 1,040 new homes in Glenboig, North Lanarkshire. The Newts will be relocated to a temporary location during construction but will be later re-introduced to a habitat specifically designed to suit them soon after construction has finished.
The good news for newts made its way across a range of mediums, with newspaper and online features in The Scotsman, BBC, Project Scot, Daily Record and the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser, with a feature interview in BBC Radio Scotland Breakfast Show and on the box with Reporting Scotland.
This story received an outstanding full page coverage in The Scotsman – which circulates around Edinburgh, Fife and Lothian’s – featuring a photograph of Russel Goodchild of Heritage Environmental in the midst of the amphibians habitat. This photograph is accompanied by a detailed image which highlights the newts distinctive appearance.
This recent media success comes as part of the ongoing work our Edinburgh PR agency have been doing for the Banks Group.
