A planning application that will bring 100 much needed homes to Rosewell, Midlothian has been lodged by Hamilton based employer, Banks Property.

The site is allocated for housing in the latest Midlothian Council Local Development Plan and the new housing will support existing and new services within the village.

The plans for the 4.9 hectare “Doctor’s Field” development will transform the site with a range of high quality detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and cottage flats – which are in high demand in the area. The mix will include one, two, three and four bedroomed homes.

New open spaces and walkways also will be created.  Banks will also improve links to local cycle routes.

One of the local groups backing the project is the local bowling club, who believe the work will provide a major boost to the area and its members. Charlie Deveney, the treasurer of Rosewell Bowling Club says: “Rosewell Bowling Club wishes Banks Property well with this initiative.”

Colin Anderson, director of Banks Property, said: “The need for new housing is constantly in the news and we’re pleased to be helping to address the issue with the proposal for new homes just eight miles (13km) from Edinburgh.

“Rosewell and projects like it are essential to keep house prices reasonable and to give a realistic chance for young families to find quality homes, in the right areas and to get on the housing ladder.”

The project follows Banks’ successful development of the neighbouring Chapel Field (now known as Roselea) which was granted permission for 63 homes thanks to a partnership between Banks and Miller Homes. All 63 homes at Chapel Field were sold by February 2017.

In line with Bank Property’s, development with care approach, Banks Property has worked closely with the local community.  Throughout every step of the planning and development process Banks has undertaken a number of a meetings, and held an exhibition, to communicate with local people the plans and provided an opportunity for them to feedback their views and ideas.

Colin added: “Banks Property is committed to sustainable development and this means that as well as creating attractive environments for families to live and work in, we intend to maximise the use of local contractors and businesses.”
