An Edinburgh pizzeria will be giving a whole new meaning to fast food when Scotland’s only pizza van takes to the road this summer.
The pioneering pizza van operated by La Favorita on Leith Walk, gives people attending performances at this year’s Edinburgh Festival a tastier and healthier option for food on the go.
Founder of the van and Edinburgh restaurateur Tony Crolla made the £50,000 investment after noticing the gap in the market.
Tony said: “Fast food stalls don’t usually provide customers with much choice when it comes to food during the festival.
“Just because people want food fast and on the go, doesn’t mean that they have to substitute quality. That’s where my pizza van steps in offering a tastier and healthier alternative to burgers and chips.
“The van was a big hit at last year’s festival and we hope that it will create the same buzz this year and with our prime location it will enable more people than ever to enjoy our tasty log fired pizza.”
The van will be situated at Reid Court just next to the Fringe’s newest venue McEwan Hall and an old Fringe favourite the Udderbelly Pasture. It will be open daily from August 5-31 from noon- 1am.
As an extra bonus Tony who is now using social media to connect with customers, will be offering his followers on facebook and Twitter the chance to get special offers on his pizza during the festival.
Followers will need to keep an eye out for the random tweets and status updates that will reveal the offers and what they have to do to claim.
