Bagpipes galore – Aberdeen parlour formally pipes a tub of haggis ice cream

Food and drink PR photography captures a twist on Burns Night traditions
WHEN Mackie’s 19.2 ice cream parlour set out to formally pipe a tub of haggis and marmalade ice cream to celebrate Burns Night we knew it was a perfect opportunity to capture the event in colourful, attention-grabbing photographs.
Mackie’s of Scotland made the love-it-or-hate-it dessert for Burns Night in 2018 and brought it back by popular demand in 2019. The handcrafted speciality recipe – which has been made on Mackie’s Aberdeenshire farm – was available all weekend at Mackie’s 19.2 parlour in Aberdeen.
Customers were given free samples of the experimental dessert made with Scotland’s famous Hall’s haggis and orange marmalade swirled through the mix and encouraged to share their thoughts on the creation with the hashtag #taemackiesicecream.
Those brave enough to play a tune on the bagpipes were also able to enjoy any free scoop of their choice.
As a result of our food and drink PR push for Mackie’s, the unusual combination went viral, engaging audiences across all forms of media and strengthening the company’s position as one of Scotland’s leading brands in the food and drink industry.
