Perth’s innovative gift card is a media success

New gift card encourages local ethos among the public and the press

Perthshire Advertiser Perth Gift CardThe City of Perth captured the attention of the press recently, after it launched a gift card believed to be the first of its kind in Scotland.

The Perth Gift Card can be used at around 50 locations across Perth ranging from restaurants and hotels to local attractions and venues including the Perth Concert Hall.

The innovative programme was launched by Miconex, a Digital Marketing firm, in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council and Scandinavian firm Presend. Similar projects in Scandinavia have seen as much as £500,000 being generated to the local economy and if this gift card is a success it is hoped that the card will be rolled out across the UK in the future.

Daily Business Newsletter Perth Gift CardLocal influential papers, the Perthshire Advertiser and the Perth Courier, were quick to pick up the story detailing the benefits that a project like this can bring to the local community and economy. Reaching over 55,000 people this coverage ensured awareness was raised of the project with the City of Perth’s target audience.

Key business title, The Daily Business News, also featured the story on its newsletter and website pushing the project further in front of hundreds of people. This coverage is crucial for our client as it made businesses outside of Perth aware of the economic benefits the City has to offer.

The gift card can be purchased online or at four specific businesses within Perth and plans are being created for a kiosk which will allow cards to be purchased through a self-service basis.

Invest in Perth aims to position Perth City Region as the most desirable place in Scotland in which to live, work, invest and visit.
