Outstanding Times for Edinburgh PR Agency

How teamwork is the key to our shortlisting for Scotland’s Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy Award

A photo of some of the Holyrood PR team celebrating PR SuccessBY NOW we are all familiar with the story of Leicester City – the most romantic tale since Romeo and Juliet was penned by old Bill Shakespeare.

But what the Foxes really demonstrated by beating the billionaires to the Premier League, is the power of a well-organised team that really pulls together.

Indeed, the same kind of teamwork that has just seen Holyrood PR shortlisted for the CIPR’s 2016 Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy in Scotland. It’s a title we already hold, having claimed the accolade in 2015 – and we’re truly delighted to be in the running again.

As our year as the title holders draws to a close we’ve reflected a lot on the power of effective teamwork, something that is talked about so often but it is incredibly hard to achieve. It is the driving force behind everything that we do here at Holyrood PR – and directly responsible for our successes.

Blend of Talents

To stick with the football analogy, for every Lionel Messi a team needs a Carlos Puyol. (For those not as well acquainted with the beautiful game – read, for every flair player a team needs a dogged committed grafter). As such, a successful PR agency needs a mix of creative thinkers, corporate heads and consumer experts.

It needs the old guard (Yes, that’s our directors, Scott and Raymond), but success is just as heavily dependent on younger people full of passion, energy and ambition.

Blend of Media

Newspaper coverage is an essentail part of the public relations services delivered by award winning PR agency, Holyrood PR in Edinburgh, ScotlandIt is no secret that the media scene has evolved beyond recognition in the past 20 years. Where we once had a small selection on news outlets and broadcasters we now have social media and the abundant and constantly evolving online world. However certain fundamentals persist – good stories, well told still get attention – whether on paper, on air or online. That’s why we work so hard as a team to tell the stories of our clients in words, pictures and video.

While our approach is underpinned by the exacting standards set over centuries by traditional newspapers, we also embrace the best new developments offered by exciting new platforms such as video and social media. We do all this while never straying from our core belief that good writing underpins all effective storytelling, and with client outcomes always front of mind.

Having a committed team means that we can draw on individual sparks of creativity, contacts and expertise in certain fields to deliver powerful outcomes for our clients, whether that is a quality spread in a broadsheet paper or a highly watchable video to ignite social media.

The Spirit and Vision

We are all united by our company vision – to transform the everyday into what makes us proud.

While we also know WHY we do what we do – because we believe that powerful storytelling is at the heart of every successful business and helps improve the bottom line while building a happier workplace.

The team has also toasted to some big hitting client wins since we were named Scotland’s Most Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy in October 2015. We’ve partnered with Musselburgh Racecourse, Mackie’s of Scotland, Sick Kids Friends Foundation and Smart Energy GB to name a few.

Our Total PR Warriors, took to the 12km cross country race; over coming pits of thick mud, fire jumps, and endless climbs.During that time we also raised more than £1500 for charity, when a triumphant Holyrood PR team also took on and tamed the gruelling Total Warrior challenge.

We believe team events like this are important for business – so much so we created this blog to highlight five immediate benefits for getting down and dirty

Culture

Walk through the door as a new starter at Holyrood PR and it isn’t long until you’re hardwired a certain way: That’s because every bit of client work undertaken is done so with a clear focus on business outcomes.

Colourful Scottish Banks notes of various denominationsWe’re not shy to talk about costs either – we do all this with such panache that it gives us absolute confidence we deliver value for money.

That in turn means we are absolutely clear and transparent about our costs. In fact, as far as we can tell we are the only agency among 60 we check annually, that publishes charges prominently on our website.

Win or lose, as holders we’re thrilled to be competing again with a chance to make it two years in a row. Regardless the outcome, our team will be united on the night.
