The party season has well and truly kicked off at Edinburgh’s original VIP club Opal Lounge.
The subterranean George Street hotspot hosts some of the city’s best club nights seven nights a week:
Monday: Dirty Stop Out
A brand new club night has launched on Monday nights to kick off the week in high style. DJ Andrew Taylor and special guests will Dirty Stop Out to Opal Lounge for party people who wish to start the week as they mean to go on with a mashed up mix of the latest funky music, twisted with old skool and R&B.
This night runs from 10pm to 3am and is £4 before 11pm and £5 after.
Tuesday: Mother Funk
Tuesday nights are all about the Edinburgh institution that is Mother Funk. The night, which can boast Kate Moss as a fan, features two of Edinburgh’s most recognised DJs Gino and Fryer. The night, which has been a dance floor favourite for 12 years, plays heavy funk, deep disco, sweet soul and real hip-hop – a New York feel to Scotland’s capital.
This night runs from 10pm to 3am and is free entry.
Wednesday: Chambles
Chambles is the city’s well-grounded student-friendly night. Featuring everything from electro-pop, club classics and disco to R&B – anything that can add to an unforgettable night. Fantastic drink deals all night and the incontestably best party in town from Jez Hill.
This night runs from 10pm to 3am and is £5 entry.
Thursday: Coco Island
Gareth Sommerville brings the latest party beats to Opal Lounge’s Polynesian Paradise each Thursday. Hula skirts and straw hats adorn the crowd with Coconut Rum punch & Bikini Rumba cocktails the flavour of the night.
This night runs from 10pm to 3am and is £5 entry.
Friday: Friday at Opal
Jez Hill, one of Edinburgh’s most experienced and charismatic DJs brings a heady mix of electro-pop, classic beats and disco, mixed up with anything else in his box that screams ‘now’.
This night runs from 9pm to 3am. Entry is free before 10pm, £4 before 11pm and £8 after.
Saturday: Saturday at Opal
Saturday’s late night soiree, featuring DJ Dave Shedan, is a bustling fusion of glamorous vocal house, accessible electro, past and present club classics with a hint of R&B. Shedan has been resident at Opal since day dot so is the man to work the Opal dance floor. Guest DJ John Hutchison of Tokyoblu is on a monthly rotation.
This night runs from 9pm to 3am. Entry is free before 10pm, £4 before 11pm and £8 after.
Sunday: Rise
Two of Edinburgh’s most celebrated DJs John Hutchison and Gareth Sommerville have joined forces to launch the city’s freshest club night Rise. The pair brings shimmering, sexy grooves, temperature raising electro house and cherished club classics to a sexy night to end the weekend in style.
This night runs from 10pm to 3am and is £4 entry.
