Fundraisers Brave the Cold for homelessness and earn warm PR in Scotland.

Over 50 people joined forces and spent a night on the streets of Edinburgh last night (November 8) to help raise funds to support young homeless people across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The event, organised by The Rock Trust, had photographers out in droves and landed a slot in the Edinburgh Evening News.

Volunteers spent the night sleeping outside the Sheraton Hotel in Festival Square to raise awareness of homelessness, a problem which affects thousands of youths in Scotland.

Money raised from the event will fund Nightstop, an emergency accomodation project for young people.

Kathleen O’Mahony, Fundraising and Events Co-ordinator for The Rock Trust, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part last night, it was a fantastic turnout and despite the cold weather a very enjoyable evening.

“In Scotland authorities received 20,000 homless applications from young people aged between 16 and 24.  The Rock Trust  needs to raise awareness of this fact so that we can continue to provide housing and support services to young people.

“This includes providing those in danger of becoming homeless, and those who have been homeless, with effective support networks, access to information and access to education and job opportunities.”

The coverage was secured on behalf of The Rock Trust and featured in the Edinburgh Evening News thanks to a PR campaign with Holyrood PR.
