NKD Clothing Looks Very Smart Thanks to Hospitality Hat Trick

PR in Edinburgh for NKD ClothingCorporate couture expert NKD Clothing has scored a high-profile series of contract wins in Scotland’s competitive hospitality sector.

Among the trio of successes was the successful design and supply of staff uniforms for the highly-anticipated launch of the exclusive 21212 restaurant in Edinburgh.

Headed up by Michelin-starred chef, Paul Kitching, the distinctive restaurant wanted an eye-catching and unusual look for staff, ahead of its opening in a blaze of publicity.

Meanwhile the Edinburgh-based designers also delivered smart new looks for the staff at Stirling’s new Adamo Hotel and for Lanarkshire’s Lisini Pub Co.

Gill Eastgate, Managing Director of NKD Clothing, said: “The most dynamic and exciting names in the hospitality sector are doing everything they can to improve what they do and make sure they come through the recession in better shape than they entered it.

“Those are the kinds of businesses who instinctively understand exactly what we have always said – that when staff look good they perform better and make a far better impression on customers.

“We’re delighted to have worked with such a series of forward-thinking businesses like these and I’m sure they will all go on to enjoy the success they deserve.”

The credentials of celebrity chef Paul Kitching and his partner Katie O’Brien ensured the opening of 21212 created a buzz in the culinary world. The couple have created a visually distinctive venue in a converted townhouse in Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace and wanted a look which would set staff apart from those in other high-end restaurants.

So they sourced a traditional artist’s smock as the basis for the image they wanted to achieve. The proviso was to create a uniformed approach in all staff being the same and one fluid team front and back of house.

Gill added: “Working with Paul and Katie was exciting because they had a clear vision and the design element is vital in every aspect of their new restaurant.

“The restaurant concept itself is contemporary and really unique and that allowed us to be more creative in our designs because they were open to new ideas.”

Meanwhile NKD Clothing has also ensured staff at Stirling’s new Adamo hotel venue are also enjoying a sophisticated look.  The hotel group used NKD Clothing last year to design uniforms for staff in its first venue in Bridge of Allan.

This month it completed the rebrand of the former Osta hotel in Stirling city centre to bring it under the Adamo branding – which meant extending the chic staff uniforms to the new venue.

Adamo Operations Director, Rodney Doig, added: “I was very impressed with the hands-on approach NKD Clothing offered. The look has gone down really well with customers commenting on how smart everyone looks.”

Finally the design team at NKD Clothing has also won praise for their work with the trendy Lisini Pub Co chain – which includes Angels Hotel and Castle Rooms in Uddingston as well as The Croft and Parkville in Glasgow.

Bosses approached NKD for some ideas in what they could do to revamp their outfits on a tight time schedule. Within weeks more than 150 of the well-designed new uniforms had been delivered.

Lisini’s Lisa Wishart finished: “We decided to revamp our staff uniforms across the chain and we saw NKD. From there we looked around and discovered they had worked on a number of brands we admire.

“We got in touch, explained what we needed and they very quickly came back with ideas and looks that would work for us. It was an incredibly quick and professional service.”

NKD clothing continues to defy current economic conditions, refusing to compromise quality and attracting like minded clients who see the recession as an opportunity to transform their business and boost staff morale.

The company is already established as one of the UK’s leading designers and providers of bespoke uniforms, work wear and corporate clothing, existing clients include leading hotel chains Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Dakota.

Already identified by Scottish Enterprise as a potential high-growth company, NKD Clothing is also now being marketed around the world by the influential Globalscot network.
