Committed clothing boss Gill Eastgate can rarely leave work behind – even when on holiday.
During a recent two week holiday in the US she was delighted to find herself casting an approving eye over the threads worn by Hollywood A-lister, Johnny Depp.
When they investigated they found out it was for the premiere of new 1920s gangster flick, Public Enemies, with the star himself on the red carpet.
With a sudden rush of blood to the head Gill barged forward and shouted: “Johnny! I’m from Scotland!”
It worked – and the smartly-dressed star made a beeline for Gill and politely asked where exactly she was from, before telling her: “Edinburgh, huh? It’s a really beautiful city.”
Desperate to get a memento of her brush with a superstar, Gill asked the diminutive actor to sign her arm before announcing to him: “That’s a really nice suit, by the way.”
Back home in Edinburgh, Gill admits that after five years building up her £1.3 million corporate couture business, it was the handsome star’s clothing which most impressed her.
She added: “He’s very good looking but much smaller than I would have expected. But his suit was beautifully cut and in a real quality fabric. I know it’s a bit sad, but that’s what really caught my eye.”
