USKG Edinburgh Evening NewsAn article in the Edinburgh Evening News, encourages young golfers to make the most of the huge golfing event taking place this year in East Lothian.

The US Kids Golf European Championships, will take place from 1- 3 June and will see around 500 young players from over 30 countries compete.  The tournament gives junior golfers aged between 6 and -for the first time – 18, the chance to play on some of Scotland’s most historic golf courses including; Gullane, Craigielaw and Longniddry.

Organisers of the event want to see a strong local contigent in the field urging young locals to challenge themselves against some of the best juniors in the world.

Dan Van Horn of the US Kids Golf foundation says in the article: “We’re delighted to be coming back to East Lothian once again, but we are still looking for competitors from across East Lothian and the rest of Scotland to enter

“Last years event was a tightly contested tournament and I expect the standard of play at this years event to be even better.

“Despite their age, these players demonstrate great poise, balance and professionalism and are a credit to the game”

2010 is a big year for golf in Scotland, with the Open Championship returning to St. Andrews.  However in terms of numbers, the overall number of entrants in the US Kids Golf European Championship will actually be the biggest tournament taking place in Scotland this year.
