MONTPELIERS LTD has invested in Edinburgh with a £500,000 refurbishment of its flagship venue, Tigerlily – creating 10 new jobs in the process.

The 10 new positions, including bar staff, waiters, receptionists and chefs, at the new-look George Street bar and restaurant brings the total number of staff up to 100.

The multi award-winning Tigerlily, which includes a boutique hotel, first opened in 2006 and set a benchmark for style bars and restaurants in Edinburgh – and in turn has become the most talked about late-night venue in Scotland.

Acclaimed designer Jim Hamilton, who conceived the original design for Tigerlily, was also recruited to lead the refurbishment project. The main changes include the venue being split into new individual areas aimed at being equally appealing for eating and drinking at all times of the day.

David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers, said they were proud to be an Edinburgh business that is continuing to invest in Edinburgh and its people.

He said: “Montpeliers has been a family-run Edinburgh business for more than 20 years, so we take great pleasure in not just being able to develop our flagship venue, Tigerlily, but also to both consolidate and grow staff numbers.

Many of our employees have worked with us for more than 15 years, with most of them coming from Edinburgh or the Lothians, so we are extremely excited to welcome new people to our team.

We want Tigerlily to continue to be seen as the most sought after bar, restaurant and hotel in Edinburgh in terms of style, product and customer service and now with a bigger team we will be able to do so.

Tigerlily has remained the largest and most profitable venue in our portfolio since it opened in 2006. But after a nearly a decade of leading the way, this was the right time to make significant changes to transform it into an even better venue that appeals to all.

The refurbishment has created a visually stunning venue with an enviable product range that provides unique selling points that set us apart from competitors, yet is appealing and is accessible to a wide audience.

Montpeliers has never been afraid to push new boundaries – we think no one is better placed to know how Edinburgh people want to enjoy themselves and have fun.”

A range of events including celebrity chef tables, cocktail masterclasses and taster packages, as well as a unique loyalty scheme, are scheduled to take place in the coming months for customers to continue to enjoy the new and improved Tigerlily.

Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd operates a portfolio of units in Edinburgh which include Opal Lounge, Ricks, Lulu, Montpeliers of Brunstfield, Candy Bar and Indigo (yard).
