Mithas and Khushi’s Bring the Heat to the Streets

Project Work and Other Clients Press releases

Indian restaurants Mithas and Khushi's have organised The Spice Walk charity event in aid of Children 1stPopular Indian restaurants Mithas and Khushi’s are encouraging Edinburgh residents to put their best foot forward this November with a new charity incentive.

The Curry Kings have organised ‘The Spice Walk’ challenge in aid of Children 1st, a leading welfare charity that provides safe and secure childhoods for young people in Scotland.

With the date set for Sunday November 17th, staff members behind the event are calling on the general public to join them in raising vital funds for Scotland’s vulnerable children in the lead up to Christmas.

Khushi’s on Antigua Street will be the base and starting point for The Spice Walk which begins at 3pm, involving a parade down Leith Walk to Mithas by The Shore. Participants will receive free t-shirts to wear on arrival.

Kate Lenart, Marketing Co-ordinator for the restaurants, said: “Being a proud part of the Edinburgh community since 1947, we’re aware of how important it is to give back to local charities and do as much as we can to help those in need. Christmas can be an especially difficult time for vulnerable children and families so it’s really important for us to actively support Children 1st.

“While we’ve been involved in plenty of charity work before, we’ve never attempted anything like this so we’re really counting on the generosity and support of locals. We’re hoping to raise £1,000 and if we can surpass that, it’ll be a huge boost to everyone who’s given their time to get involved.

“All the money we raise will stay in Scotland to help children in need. It’s humbling to be working alongside Children 1st knowing that we can make a real, noticeable difference to people in this community.”

Cooking up a storm

Once participants have crossed the finish line, chefs from Khushi’s will be on hand to cook up complimentary samples of their most popular Indian dishes for everyone.

With fifty percent of the charity’s overall funding coming from public fundraising, The Spice Walk is an important event in the Children 1st calendar.

Matthew Middler, Senior Regional Fundraiser at Children 1st said: “We’re so enthused by the efforts of everyone involved. Without the help of the public, we would be very limited in the work we do. We can’t thank people enough for their time and kindness which will really make a huge difference to families and children in this area.”

While The Spice Walk is a one-day event, fundraising will also be taking place in both Mithas and Khushi’s in the run up to November 17th, with contributions of any size being welcomed.
