Story of crime fighting boss poached by London Mayor’s office told thanks to tech PR
A SCOTTISH organisation dedicated to helping businesses to trade and prosper securely has received a ringing endorsement of its success – a request to replicate one of its key services in London.
The Scottish Business Resilience Centre is working with the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to create the first Digital Security Centre for SMEs in London.
The project to launch the LDSC is being led by SBRC Director Mandy Haeburn-Little and the new Centre will be launched in May of next year .
SBRC, whose goal is to ‘create a secure Scotland for business to flourish in’, has played a major role in raising awareness of the threat to individuals and companies from cyber and digitally enabled crime.
Mandy said the partnership model of SBRC had initially attracted interest from the Mayor’s Office in London, and after several months of discussion, an agreement was reached to provide a similar service to support SMEs in London.
She said: “This is fantastic recognition of the work and success of the SBRC.
“By developing this digital centre in London – which offers the potential to connect with huge numbers of businesses – we will be able to leverage much greater support and technical know-how from the private sector, which in turn can be used to better assist and protect SMEs in both Scotland and London.
“We also should be able to identify best practice methods and techniques which can be replicated north of the border.
“This is a hugely challenging, but highly exciting, time for the SBRC and we are looking forward to delivering a successful project with the Mayor’s office for Policing and Crime.”
Mandy added the London will include the SBRC innovative ‘ethical hackers’ and ‘cyber footprint’ services and discussions have taken place with London universities to provide the services working with their students.
The SBRC’s key activity around cyber security has included staging Scotland’s first e-crime summit and developing the ecrimescotland.org.uk website.
The SBRC was set up with the objective of creating a secure Scotland for business to flourish, encompassing everything from cyber security to all aspects of premises and employee safety.
