EQ have appeared in the business pages of their local newspaper, Dunfermline Press in a wonderful piece which tells of the firm’s eco ambitions.

The firm recently purchased two new hybrid cars in a bid to lower their CO2 emissions, which will be used as the firm’s company cars, acting as the primary mode of transport for its 8 travel executives.

The firm is also in the process of researching the feasibility of installing a hydro-electric power project at Balmule which will harness the power of a natural waterfall which lies on the land to provide clean energy to power EQ.

Franc Jeffrey, Managing Director of EQ said: “We are making a great effort to lesson the environmental impact of our business which we believe is a crucial move to  make in the these times, especially when you consider that our industry is one of the highest polluters on the planet.”

Powering the business through renewable energy has been a priority for Franc since he established the firm last year, and an application to install a wind turbine at the premises was unfortunately refused planning permission earlier in the year which has delayed the project.

Franc said: “Since it emerged that it was not possible to power EQ through an on site wind turbine, we have been looking at alternative renewable technologies, and hydro power has emerged as a viable option for Balmule we have a natural waterfall on our grounds.

Additionally, EQ has adopted green practices in its day to day business and has launched ‘responsible’ travel policies for clients who wish to do their bit in reducing the harm inflicted on the environment through the travelling they undertake.

Franc explained: “For clients striving to reduce their carbon footprint we can look to book travellers on newer, greener planes such as the Airbus A380 and eventually the Boeing Dreamliner that operate on long haul routes rather than ageing, inefficient aircraft. 

“Additionally, we can record the amount of CO2 emissions produced each month through all travel made which can then be offset with the airline or carbon offset programmes.”

EQ was formed in 2011 by Franc Jeffrey, one of the UK’s leading figures in travel management, and aims to challenge the industry by offering its services on a transparent, fee-based system, rather than the commonplace ‘fee plus hidden charges’ model.

Its services include corporate travel management, travel and expense management for clinical trials, a dedicated events and meetings service, group travel and a specialist marine and offshore service.

EQ is projecting to reach £3m turnover in its first year -and as a result of sustained growth, has also recently established a new base in Boston, USA, to further develop the business and support clients in the offshore sector on both sides of the Atlantic.
