HOUSEHUNTERS are getting the perfect chance to visualise themselves living in the new Whitehill Woods development in Midlothian’s Rosewell – thanks to the creativity of top interior design company Cate Warren Interiors.

The magnificent Whitehill House show home has been designed by Cate Warren, who has conceived   a chic, yet slightly retro style, which is aimed at families seeking the idyllic country lifestyle within easy reach of the city.

Cate – who was appointed by the development’s agent Savills – said “there is a lot of research and planning that goes into the design, to ensure we create a desirable home that appeals to a wide audience.”

“Whitehill is a beautiful and unique location, and we had to ensure our design was sympathetic to the showhouse and its aspect.

“The development sits on a golf course right on the outskirts of Edinburgh so we wanted to maintain that rural feel, while considering the fact that homebuyers viewing this area would most likely be city commuters.”

“From a design point of view, we felt that the houses and outlook have a feel of the Californian mid-century modern homes, so we embraced this style, mixing it with high-end, contemporary elements to create the overall design, lending it a slightly eclectic, and cosmopolitan feel.’’

Cate added: ‘’It is important to provide enough personality to make people feel instantly warm and welcome, and be able to visualise themselves living in the house.  Everyone has different tastes, so it’s our job to ensure we create the most suitable interior for each individual house we design. We walk the tightrope between a design that is so bold in its styling that it alienates potential buyers, and so bland that it fails to stand out and attract viewers. ’’

Situated less than 10 miles to the south of central Edinburgh, Savills is hoping that with its desirable location and unique interior, Whitehill Woods will stand out from its competitors and attract a broad range of people to view the newly-styled showhome. The location of the showhome has worked in its favour, since some of the best interior designers, apart from Cate Warren, like the Gayfield Design (https://gayfield-design.co.uk) are also situated in the same place. This has enabled these designers to invest more than usual effort and time in the aesthetic designing of Whitehill Woods.

Shonagh Morgan of Savills said: “With good schools in the area, along with a range of outdoor pursuits on offer including golf at Whitehill House Golf Course, horse riding and mountain biking, Whitehill Woods is well placed for an active country lifestyle with all the benefits of comfortable modern living as our beautiful new show home demonstrates.   This desirable combination is likely to attract buyers from across the spectrum to this stunning development”.

Cate Warren Interiors was formed in 2010 and the company has since established itself firmly in Scotland, completing show homes for Grosvenor Estates, J Smart and New Age Developers among others. Cate Warren Interiors has also established a strong foothold in the burgeoning rental, and buy-to-let markets with clients including D J Alexander, Grosvenor Estates and Quartermile.

Cate Warren has been in the interior design industry for 15 years, since graduating from Goldsmiths University, London. She started out at Philippe Starck’s Yoo Ltd, before moving on to work at Target Living as Design Project Manager for interior designer Tara Bernerd, with whom she worked on a succession of high-end, high value projects for home builders, private clients, hotels, and bars.

Two plots in the niche development of four and five bedroom detached family homes are available through selling agent Savills, offering two different house type options: The Ramsay, an exceptional five bedroom detached home with double garage and The Capielaw, a four bedroom detached home split over two floors with a double detached garage and charming balcony to the front.
