GBBO star gives guests a flavour of what life could be like at The Crescent
THE LUXURIOUS and state-of-the-art kitchens at CALA’s most exclusive new development have been put to the test by one of Britain’s best loved bakers.
The kitchens within The Crescent at Donaldson’s have been showcased at a select event which saw Great British Bake Off finalist Ruby Bhogal demonstrate one of her signature recipes.
Ruby, who is an architectural graduate, brought the new community together at The Crescent by baking a lemon and ginger meringue pie for residents and esteemed guests.
Ruby said: “I was delighted when I was asked to come to Edinburgh – it’s my very first time here and it has blown me away.
“It was lovely to bake in the stunning surroundings of The Crescent. You can tell there’s a real sense of community here already.”
Designed by Kitchens International, the studio kitchens at The Crescent offer all the practicality of modern living with a host of additional luxuries.
Silestone worktops, Gaggenau touch-control induction hobs, integrated Siemens appliances, LED under-unit lighting and a dual-temperature free standing wine cooler are all included as standard in the range of 84 apartments, penthouses and duplexes.
A signature touch by Kitchens International includes a stylish kitchen island with integrated back-flip sockets and USB ports.
Leicht ‘Contino’ soft close wall and drawer units are also included with every kitchen, as well as a Quooker ‘Fusion’ tap within the penthouses.
Ross Craig, Marketing Manager with Kitchens International, said: “We believe we have paired the contemporary style of The Crescent with the convenience and functionality any kitchen requires.
“We were really given the opportunity to create an interior which is just as impressive as the exterior – the result is a practical living space which is deserving of its special surroundings.
“It’s the ultra-modern and high-quality finishes which take the kitchens at The Crescent to the next level of luxury living.”
Edinburgh-based Kitchens International has six showrooms across Scotland and offers both residential and commercial design services.
Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director with CALA Homes (East), said: “Since we welcomed our first residents in February, we have had some fantastic feedback on our kitchens.
“The team at Kitchens International really understood our vision for these spaces – making them luxurious but also fit for contemporary living.
“Having a Great British Bake Off finalist come along to try out these kitchens and bring the new community together really is the icing on the cake, so to speak.”
Designed by acclaimed architect Richard Murphy OBE, The Crescent comprises some of Edinburgh’s most sought-after new residences.
Situated within Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the development has been directly inspired by its New Town surroundings, with the crescent shape influenced by traditional Georgian architecture.
Paired with an impressive glass façade are generous flowing spaces, enhanced height living areas and dynamic levels, with each apartment offering a minimum dual-aspect living arrangement.
Philip added: “We believe The Crescent truly is unlike any other development in Scotland, showcasing a highly modern interpretation of the finest classical architecture in a way that is shaped around quality living – both inside and out.”
Just a mile west of Princes Street, this collection of properties in the iconic, 18-acre Donaldson’s estate offer buyers an idyllic rural escape whilst still being in the heart of the capital.
The first footers moved into the neighbourhood earlier this year. The range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses at The Crescent are proving popular with buyers, with a third of the first block already sold.
Two show apartments are available to view daily. Visit https://www.cala.co.uk/the-crescent or call 0131 516 3018 to arrange a viewing.
