An award winning Italian restaurant group has raised nearly £6,000 for a children’s charity thanks to their innovative kids dining scheme.
Edinburgh restaurants Vittoria on the Walk, Vittoria on the Bridge and La Favorita have raised £5,873 so far in 2010 for the Forth One and Forth2 Cash for Kids appeal after introducing a special children’s meal deal.
Under the deal, the restaurants offered families the chance to pay just £1 for a normally priced £5.50 child’s meal when accompanied by a full paying adult, with all the proceeds donated to the Edinburgh based charity.
Owner Tony Crolla is planning on continuing the initiative throughout the rest of the year and into 2011, with the hope that it will raise even more money for the charity which provides grants for disabled and disadvantaged children in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
Tony said: “We are really pleased with the fantastic amount of money we have raised so far.
“We started the scheme at our restaurants back in April 2009, raising more than £7,000 that year and since then have continued to raise more and more money for the charity, with the total amount raised now sitting at £12,000.
“Although this represents a major commitment for us and our three restaurants, we could not do this without the many customers who have used the offer and helped contribute to this worthy cause.
“We will continue to raise as much money as possible for the charity and hope that new families – as well as those who have enjoyed taking part before – will come along and take advantage of this offer.”
Thanks For The Support
Forth One DJ Grant Stott said: “I was absolutely staggered at the amount of money Tony has raised for us.
“Tony and his restaurants are very well known across the City, so to have Vittoria’s and La Favorita raising money like this for Cash for Kids is such a great gesture. Salute!”
Lesley Fraser-Taylor, manager of Radio Forth’s Cash For Kids Charity, said: “It’s thanks to really supportive businesses like this that we can make a big difference to children with special needs across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
“Thank you, Tony for such outstanding fundraising!”
