Giant Cocktail Shaker

Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd

Edinburgh’s original cocktail bar, Rick’s, has shaken up Scotland’s stylish social scene with a gigantic gallon-sized cocktail shaker. The huge cobbler shaker – which holds eight pints of alcohol – is the first of its kind in Scotland. At two-feet long, the introduction of the shaker was among the exciting changes made at Rick’s, as part of refurbishement unveiled in July 2009. The concept of the shaker originates from legendary 1930’s bar, Sloppy Joe’s in Havana – which played host to Hollywood greats John Wayne, Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable. Rick’s team of expert bar staff, lead by acclaimed mixologist Mal Spence, will fill the giant shaker with various cocktails which are then poured into giant punchbowl while drinkers scoop out drinks with tiny crystal glasses. The whole experience is known as the Ceremony of the Punchbowl and it’s the first time people in Scotland will be able to try out the drink extravaganza.
