Changing lives one set of bagpipes at a time – and with colourful PR photography

The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust

AN INNOVATIVE ‘bagpipe amnesty’ was launched by the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust asking for bagpipes to be donated to give new young players a better chance in life.
The Old Pipes for New Players appeal will help young players, who have spent two years on practice chanters, move onto the full instrumen, which can cost hundreds of pounds. The trust is giving free tuition to more than 1000 pupils in schools across Scotland – many in the most deprived areas. Donors were able to hand in old or unwanted pipes at one of 66 manned fire stations across the country. These are the eye catching public relations photos arranged and delivered by Holyrood PR in Edinburgh to support the campaign:

The colourful and eye catching photo shoot at Govan Fire Station featured a number of kids from a nearby primary school which has already seen huge benefits as a result of the work of the SSPDT, introducing the traditonal instruments to a number of enthusiastic and talented kids who otherwise would never have had the opportunity.
