Banks Lambshill

A rare and neglected peat bog is to be restored as a haven for some of Scotland’s most threatened flora and fauna. The blanket bog in South Lanarkshire has been damaged by years of commercial forestry, but could be saved by renewable energy developers.
Ecology expert Dr Rachel Hirst says she is excited by plans from Hamilton-based Banks Renewables, which would see the vital habitat restored and protected. The company has applied to create a 26 turbine wind farm at Kype Muir.
