BANKS RENEWABLES’S Kype Muir Extension Wind Farm hosts the UK’s tallest onshore wind turbines and with the 200m structures connecting to the grid, we knew a special day was needed to mark it.

Our PR experts at Holyrood PR helped arrange a visit from Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister, to celebrate the momentous occasion. We made the most of the event, ensuring all the small details were in place and then crafting and pitching a press release to top media publications across the UK.

We also saw the importance of the photo opportunity behind this event and hired a professional press photographer to take eye-catching shots to use for our media package and for Banks to use for future marketing collateral.

With a leading political figure like the First Minister, we knew the photos would speak for themselves.

There was an array of moments we wanted to capture. We organised photos that stressed the professionalism of Banks’ staff as they showed Nicola Sturgeon around the 200m tall turbines, we organised several shots which placed the turbines in context to show off their impressive scale and we made sure to put the Banks logo front and centre to showcase thought leadership and raise brand recognition.

We drafted a concise photobrief to make sure we got the perfect range of shots to send in a media package to press while ensuring that all the key members and stakeholders at the project could have photo opportunities with the First Minister to mark the occasion.

The story about the UK’s tallest turbines was visual by nature, so we quickly realised we needed pristine photos to match.
