A GREAT British Bake Off finalist partnered with Scotland’s favourite ice cream brand to create a Summer of Simple Pleasures.
Flora Shedden, 23, collaborated with Mackie’s of Scotland‘s Summer of Simple Pleasures campaign, designing and perfecting recipes to showcase the joy of ice cream.
Here recipes used Mackie’s of Scotland ice cream and chocolate, with the aim of making simple but quality treats.
Flora said, “Given the simple pleasure theme, I wanted to find something quite easy to make, with simple ingredients but hopefully create something I find deeply rewarding to eat! For me there is a happy nostalgia associated with ice cream – I think that definitely fits nicely with the sentiment too. The ice cream slice has a lovely retro vibe to it.”
Based in Aberdeenshire, Mackie’s of Scotland is renowned for its real dairy ice cream and has been making chocolate since 2014. The family-owned 10-acre solar farm is working towards a self-sufficient production line whereby everything from milk to packaging to energy is produced on the farm. The farm has four wind turbines and an on-site biomass energy plant providing more than 80% of the company’s energy requirement. The efforts made has awarded Mackie’s as one of the greenest farms in europe.
