HUNTERS, one of Scotland’s leading estate agents-solicitors, has announced it is to open a new property shop, heralding an important next stage in its future growth plans.

Hunters, part of the PSM Law Group, which already operates two property shops in Edinburgh and Dunfermline, says its decision to open new premises in Falkirk shows its ambition to continually grow the company and to provide people in the town with a quality service

Matthew Gray, Group Property Director with Hunters, said their arrival reinforces Falkirk’s growing reputation as a sought-after place to live and its importance as the key town between Edinburgh and Glasgow – while giving the area a dedicated and ambitious estate agency team to match.

He said: “Everybody knows there is a ripple out effect from the booming property markets in Glasgow and particularly Edinburgh. With our specialist skills we are uniquely placed to make sure home movers in the wider Falkirk area can make the most of that.

“You cannot overplay the role of a good professional estate agent because quite simply they can earn a client thousands of pounds extra by helping sell their home for the best possible price. That has been the most important factor in our successful formula.

“We are delighted we will now offer those services in Falkirk, because we are convinced it is an exciting and fast-growing market. More importantly, we know we can make a real difference by providing a genuine alternative to what is currently on offer in the town.”

Matthew said the Falkirk opening also signalled an important step forward for Hunters, which has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years, a fact underlined when it was named earlier this year by the ESPC as one of its top five best performing members.

He said: “We have exciting plans to grow and develop Hunters – and the new office in Falkirk will hopefully be followed soon by the opening of other property shops elsewhere.  We have a number of sites in mind across the central belt and are looking to firm up our plans for these in the near future.

“We know we have an excellent product with Hunters, combined with top quality property staff. Hunter’s is already distinct from many in the business, by being able to offer a complete one-stop service to provide both quality estate agency and to handle all the conveyancing and other legal requirements all under one roof.

“There are solicitors who help people buy and sell houses and do little more than place the details in the ESPC. Likewise there are estate agents who do whatever they can, but fall down because they can’t get into the ESPC. We are one of the very few firms that offers the best of both worlds. There are other tremendous advantages from being a one-stop shop, not least the fact that cases are dealt with far more quickly and efficiently when the legal team are part of the same business.”

Two of Central Scotland’s most respected estate agents, Duncan Fergusson and Kate Fisher, have been appointed to head the Falkirk operation. They will also work closely with conveyancing solicitors PSM-MooreMarshall, formed earlier this year by the merger of the PSM Law Group and highly-successful Falkirk legal practice, MooreMarshall.

Both Duncan and Kate previously worked with country estate specialists, DMH Baird Lumsden and before that both worked with Slater, Hogg & Howison where Duncan was a senior valuer overseeing offices in Falkirk, as well as Stirling, Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline. Kate started an office in West Lothian for Slater, Hogg & Howison from scratch and turned it into a thriving £150,000-a-year turnover business with 50 clients within three years.

Duncan said: “This isn’t just a tremendous opportunity for Kate and me, it is also extremely good news for anybody buying or selling a house in Falkirk. We recently saw a four-bedroom house in Dunipace sell for almost 20% over the asking price after just a couple of weeks of marketing and that is the kind of momentum we want to keep up.”

Matthew Gray added: “In people of Duncan and Kate’s calibre we have attracted the best in estate agency talent and that sends out a clear message – not only do our customers say we are the best, so do the quality people in the industry. This should also make it absolutely clear that we are in Falkirk for the long-haul and are determined to make an impression.”
