PR industry listens to award-winning Scottish public relations agency for clarity on fees

How much does PR Cost - featured imageIT’S a question we hear all the time from potential clients who often seem confused about what they may have to pay for public relations and what they will get for their money: “How much does PR cost?”
Questions about the cost of PR services are questions that we are both happy and confident to answer.
Here at Holyrood PR we publish our rates prominently and proudly on our website. That way potential clients are never  in any doubt about the investment required, while existing clients can rest assured they are paying the same fair, considered and excellent value-for-money rate as other clients.
However, this is not the norm. In fact  we conduct an annual comparison of around 70 other reputable PR firms – and in the previous three years we have been unable to find any which publish their fees, rates or charges on their websites.
How much does PR Cost - Scott's comment in the media
This is just one of the positive things that make us stand out in the PR profession – and it is why we have been asked to contribute to an important PR industry website on a discussion on how should you pay for PR?
Our director Scott Douglas featured in the article, alongside Francis Ingham, the Director General of the highly-respected PRCA, and a number of other PR thought leaders.
Read Scott’s thoughts in full below:
“We have always had a simple pricing structure which ensures every client knows what they are paying and what they can expect for those fees, while reassuring them that other clients pay the same rate.

“Since 2012 we’ve published our charges prominently on our website, explaining the difference in our rates for those who commit to long-term contracts and those who prefer to work on a project-by-project basis.

“What surprised us was that we couldn’t find any other firms among our competitors who did the same. So, we carry out an annual check on around 70 reputable PR agencies. We have been unable to find any which publish their rates online.

“We’ve had numerous clients and potential clients advise us that public relations and marketing has been off putting to them, because of a lack of transparency on pricing.

“That is something we can understand. After all, as well as being in business, we are also consumers and we want the price we pay for goods and services to be clear and up front from the outset.

“We are proud that our work is effective and provide measurable value, so why would we be opaque about our fees? We’d love to see others in the industry adopt this approach.”
