Multiple media mentions for devoted duo
AS HONEYCOMB is currently Mackie’s of Scotland‘s second most popular ice-cream flavour, when an Aberdeenshire pair with a passion for honeycomb-making hit a new personal best, our Edinburgh PR agency made sure it scooped up media coverage.
Our team was quick to pick up the story of the duo who worked together to produce nearly two tonnes of the sweet treat over just five single shifts.
The pair hit a huge milestone after making 1985kg of honeycomb in a single week, as demand soared following major new listings in England and Wales.
The mighty milestone achieved by the honeycomb ladies grabbed the headlines in national, business, regional, specialist and local press, attaining the following results:
- 156,698 opportunities to see
- 17 items of coverage
- Featured in Deadline News, Aberdeen Business News, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, Grampian Online, Food & Drink Technology, Industrial News, Aberdeen Live, Ellon Times, Inverurie Herald, Inverurie Advertiser (print), Turriff Advertiser (print) and Banffshire Journal (print)
We began by securing photos and quotes from the honeycomb ladies, Deirdre Henderson and Louise Hunter. After curating a targeted media list, our Edinburgh PR agency issued the story to food and drink, local as well as business media.
The coverage highlighted the sweet treat is a key ingredient in several of Mackie’s leading products. The largest pieces go into its honeycomb ice cream, with smaller sized pieces in honeycomb chocolate bars – and even the remaining “dust” is infused with natural orange oils to use in its orange chocolate.
The story was picked up particularly well in local Aberdeenshire media where Mackie’s of Scotland and the honeycomb ladies are based, as well as food trade titles.
