WHAT A BIG MOUTH YOU HAVE (Andrea)

This blog suggests that more people will now join Twitter following the lightning speed in which the news that Osama Bin Laden spread across the globe. Everyone will now want to get involved in the platform that knew before anyone else that the “world’s most wanted man” was dead. But as more and more people join – who are not journalists or news hounds – will the reliability of it as a news source diminish?

PICTURE PERFECT – NOT QUITE (Raymond)

There must be a million women round the world who’ll be glad to see this picture of Pippa Middleton – looking very au naturel and light years away from her near scene-stealing role at the Royal Wedding. The Daily Mirror has printed pictures of Pippa days before the wedding as she ran back to her car to avoid a parking ticket – completely make-up and wow-factor free. The camera, indeed, can be a cruel master…

NINJA NUN AT ROYAL WEDDING (Laura)

Well not exactly, but almost! Sister Annaliese Brogden caused an explosion of tweets when she was pictured sitting next to Wills and Kate at the Royal Wedding wearing a pair of black Reebok classics – leaving many people wondering whether she was actually a secret agent and earning her the nickname the Ninja Nun. Sister Annaliese’s brother has denied any rumours of her being a secret agent, claiming she wears them for comfort, but that hasn’t stopped the twitter trending frenzy. Take a look at some of the hundreds of tweets about the Ninja Nun who has become somewhat of a twitter celebrity!

HOW TO SPREAD GOOD NEWS – BIN LADEN RAID GOES VIRAL (Adrian)

The coverage of Osama Bin Laden’s death represents a clear sign of how far technology has progressed in the last decade. While the 9/11 attacks predominantly relied on TV news reports and websites to spread the news to a global audience, the death of its terrorist mastermind has been a completely different affair. Tweeters spread the news at the same time – and sometimes before – official channels such as FOX and CNN, while an army of bloggers and facebook users helped to promote the message to a global audience within minutes. Perhaps most impressive was the computer programmer in Pakistan who lived in the compound next to where the raid took place – and ended up live-blogging the US military operation by accident.

A NEW DAWN FOR A FRESH CHORUS OF TWEETING? (Scott)

Today the web is abuzz with news tha Twitter has paid up to $50 million to acquire British start up called Tweetdeck, a platform preferred by Twitter ‘power users’. Could it spell the start of a new, upbeat era for Twitter, which just four weeks ago was reported to be in all sorts of trouble by no less an august organ than Fortune?
