Holyrood PR TV Episode 113

This week we’ve been telling the story of one client who has been looking into his crystal ball by making property predictions in Oban, why one ambitious fundraiser is attempting to raise £1million and urging parents to make sure children are using the right toothpaste.

First up, following one of the most sustained and prolonged property slumps on record, the residential market in the Argyll and Bute area is finally showing signs that it is emerging from recession. Bell Ingram explained that houses, especially those located within town centres in Argyll and Bute, can now sell within three to six months compared to a lengthy average of up to 12 months as recently as last year. However, it was stressed that despite the encouraging improvement being recorded in the number of sales and the shortening of selling periods, it could still be another year before the market overall sees consistent upward growth in values. News of this emerging market trends made the Easter property special of local publication, the Oban Times.

Next, a dementia support worker who works for leading house and care provider Bield, has embarked on an ambitious fundraising challenge – to raise £1 million for Breast Cancer Care. Debbie Dean from Glasgow, works for Bield’s Flexicare service in the city and we told the story of why she has been regularly lacing up her running shoes to take part in a variety of sporting events to raise funds. Debbie’s fundraising challenge is part of a long-term family goal, started by her late sister Roseann Gallagher who died from breast cancer earlier this year, aged 51. News of Debbie’s inspiring story made a double page spread in the Evening Times as well as online.

And finally, we told the story of why parents are being urged to make sure kids are using the right type of toothpaste. The choice of toothpaste can influence
how effectively dental decay is prevented, according to a new range of recommendations issued as part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland. The report also recognises the effect social background has on dental health and calls for greater use of individual assessments. News of the story was picked up national titles The Courier,The Sun, The Scotsman and the Daily Record as well as top trade publication the Dentist.
