Holyrood PR TV Episode 112

Despite the dreary weather in the capital this week it’s been far from doom and gloom at Holyrood PR as we’ve been sweeping up successful coverage for our clients and welcoming fresh faces to the team.

First up, as part of our work for Healthcare Improvement Scotland we’ve been telling the story of how a pioneering trial has been introduced to Scottish hospitals to improve the quality of prescribing. Striving to make it both easier for staff and safer for patients, a standardised prescribing and administration chart has been developed over the last two years. The work has been carried out by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and Healthcare Improvement Scotland and is set to be tested in three NHS Boards from April this year. It is hoped this will help reduce the error rate which currently stands at around 7% of all Scottish prescriptions. The story was picked up by The Courier and The Nursing Times.

Next up, exasperated by the complexity of recent welfare reforms, Blackwood, pioneers in both housing and care, has set up a dedicated team to help its tenants navigate their way through the baffling benefit changes. As a result they identified 286 households affected by the controversial Bedroom tax, which cuts the housing benefit of those deemed to be living in a property with too many bedrooms for their needs. Their extensive work has helped secure 139 exemptions for affected customers, who include people with physical or learning disabilities, mental health issues or sensory impairment. The story caught the attention of the Guardian online, The Property Reporter and top trade titles Third Force News and Care Industry News.

And finally, those looking to get their first foot in the often elusive door of PR have been applying to get a coveted internship at Holyrood PR. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve welcomed two fresh faced young graduates, eager to get some real life experience in a busy PR agency. Say hello to Stephanie and Kirsty who will be part of the team for the next couple of weeks and will be guaranteed to be doing far more than just making the tea! If you’d like to find out more about our intern programmes take a look at our video here.
