This week we discover how girls are taking over the world of bag piping, tell the story of Baronial mansion outside of Oban and give a warm welcome to the latest addition to the team.
First up, we have a story about how schoolgirls in East Lothian have overturned a male tradition by taking over one of Scotland’s most promising pipe bands.
As part of our campaign running up to the second ever Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships, we discovered that out of the 31 youngsters at Preston Lodge High School who play in its pipe band, 24 are girls.
Lee Moore, bag pipe instructor at the school now hopes that this growing trend will influence other females to start playing and keep the tradition going strong all across Scotland. We told our story and it was picked up by Sunday weekly, the Sunday Post as well as Edinburgh’s Evening News.
Next we have been working closely with our property client Bell Ingram to find the most interesting stories surrounding new properties that have come to the market. This is where we discovered Kilbowie House, a classic Scottish Baronial mansion situated on a stunning waterfront just outside of Oban.
The country residence is a grade B list property which boasts original features including beautiful oak lined halls, impressive fireplaces and door and window shutters, panelled in oak and yellow pine.
The story of this country property attracted the eye of the Sunday Times, helping the property gain coverage to a potential audience of more than 880,000 people. If you are interested in coverage similar to this, please get in touch via our website, holyroodpr.co.uk.
And finally, a big welcome to Craig Sinclair who has decided to start his career with Capture Media, our in-house video company. Craig has a degree in Film and Media and has already started working on some of our top clients ESPC and The Edinburgh Collection as well as get to grips with how our weekly Holyrood TV works.
