This week at Holyrood PR we’ve been working out with a world famous view thanks to one of Edinburgh’s trendiest new hotels, discovering how piping across Scotland could be under threat and telling the story of how woodland, wetland and wildlife are set to get a wind boost.

First up, with New Year’s resolutions in full swing, fitness fanatics can wave goodbye to crowded, stuffy gyms and instead lace up and embrace a workout with a view of one of the world’s most iconic cities. STAY central hotel have just launched its new ‘urban gym’ programme which gives visitors and locals alike the opportunity to run up the Royal Mile, plank in Princes Street Gardens and ab crunch upon Calton Hill. If you would like to find out more about the free sessions please visit www.staycentral.co.uk. The story was featured by Healthy Edinburgh, Edinburgh Evening News and hit the front page of Edinburgh Now.

From the hustle and bustle of the city to country life, wind farm developer, Banks Renewables have laid out a series of improvements at the proposed 270 hectare site in High Cumnock to restore degraded wetlands, revive protected native woodland and create hedgerow corridors giving a lifeline to wildlife.  Independent ecology experts were drafted in by Banks Renewables to conduct an environmental assessment and to make sure that plant and animal life in the area surrounding the proposed wind farm is protected and enhanced.

And finally our story of how Scotland’s national instrument could be under threat due to a lack of funding in schools was debated on The Culture Studio with Janice Forsyth, hitting the airwaves on BBC Radio Scotland last week. Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championship judge and Red Hot Chilli Piper Craig Munro shared his thoughts as well as Pipe Major of Glasgow Academy reflecting the younger generation’s views.
