Further education college gets a lesson in media coverage thanks to Holyrood PR

Edinburgh’s Telford College announces new training course which hopes to help preserve the future of Scotland’s heritage buildings in the Edinburgh Evening News.

The college has been working in partnership with Citadel Youth Centre, Edinburgh World Heritage, Historic Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council to help deliver a Heritage Skills training course aimed at S4 pupils.

Pupils from Drummond High School were the first to complete the seven week course which saw them learn skills in plastering, marbling, joinery and stonemasonry. On completion of the course, pupils were awarded certificates in a special event held in the City Chambers.

Miles Dibsdall OBE, principal of Edinburgh’s Telford College explained that: “With the job market being in the worst state it’s been for years and the percentage of people out of work at an all time low, we feel it is so important to try and help young people get involved in courses such as our traditional skills.

“It gives them a real purpose in life and helps encourage more people to get involved in the sector.”
