WHEN the Health PR team at Holyrood PR hear of a client hitting a major milestone we can’t wait to share it with the media.

Kids Operating Room (KidsOR) – a charity specialising in providing safe surgery to children across Africa and Latin America – installed its 50th operating room in January and thanks to Health PR experts the news dominated national headlines.

The 50th installation was in Kumasi, Ghana and was the first paediatric surgical facility in the region despite Kumasi accounting for twenty percent of Ghana’s population. The installation created the capacity for more than 30,000 children to access safe surgery a year.

Our health PR experts jumped on board to help spread the word, generating incredible results:

  • 9,918,042 opportunities to see across national British and Irish publications
  • 35 items of coverage across online, print and social media publications
  • Prime-Time Radio coverage on Forth1 and Forth2 Radio
  • Key National Features In; The Daily Record, STV News, The Herald and The National
  • Features in Irish media titles including The Irish News
  • Features in key media titles such as Charity Today, The Belfast Telegraph, and The Scotsman

The release pitch was tailored bespoke to national, regional, local and trade press to cover all areas relevant to the charity. The team pitched a regionalised version to Dundee media titles, where the operating room stock was sent out from as well as a regionalised release for Edinburgh as the charity is headquartered there.

As this story was sharing such a key milestone it was important to get as wide coverage as possible, while hitting the key Scottish papers to promote the Scottish charity.

Meanwhile targeting trade outlets stamps Kids OR as a frontline performer in its sector, publishing its astounding achievements in front of charity and healthcare press.

This coverage not only shared an important milestone but addressed how people can get involved and raised the profile of ongoing work.

The national coverage captured individuals of all demographics across the UK, getting in front of people which may not have heard of the charity’s work before and might now want to get involved.
