Headlines prove ice cream themed showhome has media success licked

Award-winning property enjoys tasty media coverage, thanks to Edinburgh PR agency
A raspberry ripple-themed showhome has enjoyed a bumper serving of sweet headlines – after landing a prestigious award.
The CALA Homes property in North Berwick was named Scotland’s Showhome of the Year, for its vibrant-yet-classy design and decor, inspired by seaside themes, including the nation’s favourite beachside ice cream treat.
While the award alone might have earned publicity for the home, part of CALA’s Gilsland Grange development in North Berwick, East Lothian, the team at Holyrood PR in Edinburgh ensured stellar results by captivating the property media with the ice cream theme (you can see our original tasty media release here).
With our storytelling skills, we looked far beyond the award win by interviewing the designer about her inspiration and by speaking with CALA’s sales director about the work involved ensuring the show property reflected the area’s coastal reputation.
As a result the showhome – and the remaining properties available at Gilsland Grange – achieved huge coverage across the quality newspaper market serving the whole of Scotland.
The country’s best known newspaper, The Scotsman, which is widely read among CALA’s target audience in the East of Scotland featured a two page spread on the award-winning showhome. The Scotsman sells more than 30,000 copies per day, reaching almost 100,000 influencers, mostly in and around the Scottish capital.
Meanwhile Scotland’s best-selling quality daily newspaper with a daily circulation over 65,000, the Press and Journal, based in Aberdeen, dedicated a full page to the property.
The paper serves the whole of Scotland north of Perth, including the Highlands and Islands. However, it’s heartland is Europe’s oil capital of Aberdeen, where many of the wealthiest workers are among those likely to consider a CALA Home in the Lothians.
Meanwhile The Herald newspaper, the quality title serving Glasgow and the west coast of Scotland, where it sells more than 40,000 copies every day reaching 120,000 print readers, also carried a substantial report on the ice cream themed property.
As the cherry on top, the showhome also featured in the Scottish Daily Express property section, another great piece of exposure for CALA Homes, with the renowned mid-market paper selling more than 55,000 copies in Scotland daily.
So, by cleverly tying in CALA’s award with the quality of life in one of Scotland’s most sought after coastal communities, we delivered a healthy scoop of media success to CALA Homes – and helped dramatically increase interest in the Gilsland Grange development.
