Hawick RFC Given A Second Wind

Local sports outfit, Hawick Rugby and Football Club have been given a massive cash boost from hamilton-based, Banks Renwables in the form of a sponsorship deal worth £10,000. It is part of an initiative by the company that they hope will help localorganisations which are within the areas they develop.

Banks Renewables, which is part of the Banks Group (http://www.banksgroup.co.uk) was founded in 1976. It currently employs around 380members of staff in the renewable energy, property and mining sectors.

With this cash boost, Hawick RFC plan to completely refurbish the exisiting changing areas for the players, as well as builda new extension which will create separate shower and toilet facilties for both male and female members. 

Dr Charlie Oliver, sponsorship convenor on the committee of Hawick Rugby Football Club, said: “We’re thrilled to havereceived the sponsorship from Banks Renewables.

“We really appreciate their support.

“Especially since they’re new to the community, it was a welcome surprise that they’d take such an interest in the localclub.”

Dr Oliver also added that he believed the improved facilites would make the club “more accessible to the minis sectionand other juvenile players in the town.”
Speaking about the sponsorship, Phil Dyke, development director at Banks Renewables, said: “We hope that our sponsorshipmakes a differecne to the club, and we hope to see them do well next year.”
