Haugh Street Hits The Right Road For Care Success

Bield Housing And Care Press releases

An Edinburgh retirement housing development has been recognised for its high standards of care after receiving a ‘five star’ Care Inspectorate rating for the third year in a row.

Bield’s Haugh Street development, situated in Stockbridge, was put to the test in a two day inspection visit from the Care Inspectorate, the independent, national regulator for care.

However, it was smiles all round as Haugh Street came secured a ‘five’ grade status – acknowledged as ‘very good’ – in all four categories of the inspection.

Each category looks to assess a different aspect of the service offered at development it inspects; these include quality of care and support, quality of environment, quality of staffing and quality of management.

Speaking with tenants, families and staff at Haugh Street, the Care Inspectorate collated its results based on the feedback and observations on their two day visit to the development.

Kim Drysdale, Development Manager at Haugh Street, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have received such encouraging and impressive results for the third year in a row.

“As a team, we all work really well together and we all have that same commitment that we want to make the lives of those who stay at our development as fulfilling as possible.

“We do this in a range of ways such as hosting various social activities such as games evenings where tenants can chat with others over a game of dominos or something similar. Our deputy manager also takes tenants to football matches which so many of them really enjoy.

“More importantly though, we look to ensure that those using our services are getting as much out of it as possible, as well as giving them the reassurance that they are in a safe and friendly environment.

“We are also incredibly lucky to have such dedicated relief staff who ensure impeccably high standards when the management team have their days off.

“It’s very rewarding to have our efforts recognised by the Care Inspectorate, especially given the significance of their role in ensuring that the level of care offered to our older generations is of a high standard, which is something we believe to be incredibly important.”
