INVESTMENT of £4.5 million in Scotland’s most environmentally-friendly refrigeration system led to a cool haul of headlines for ice cream maker, Mackie’s of Scotland.

Already renowned for the green credentials of its farm in Aberdeenshire, the family-owned business is now investing heavily in eco-friendly freezer equipment.

This new high-tech system aims to reduce the ice cream production carbon footprint by targeting CO2 savings of up to 80% and energy costs of 70-80%.
