Tigerlily reopens after refurbishment with golden ticket VIP party - hotel PR

EXCITING boutique hotel, bar and restaurant Tigerlily has taken inspiration from Roald Dahl, by offering five lucky winners an all expenses paid weekend stay for two – if they find a unique golden ticket hidden inside a Tunnock’s Tea Cake.

In a move worthy of Willy Wonka himself, Tigerlily has taken to the streets of the Capital to hand out baskets full of the Scottish confectionary, which offer a chance to scoop a golden ticket in celebration of its new £500,000 revamp.

The five prizes – offering a full weekend stay including accommodation, meals, drinks and access to Lulu Bar and Nightclub – will all be won by the end of the weekend.

Teams of fit-out specialists have been working round the clock to transform Tigerlily – the ‘go-to’ venue acclaimed as setting the trend for Scotland’s style bar and restaurant scene when it first opened in 2006 and a popular night spot for celebrities and footballers – in time for its re-opening tonight (Friday)

Interest has been building towards the relaunch night, which will also see some secret themed images beamed onto the walls of the building to help kick off the celebrations in spectacular style.

David Johnston, Development Director at Edinburgh based Montpeliers, who operate Tigerlily, said: The Tigerlily team will be around the Capital offering a last chance to win one of our fantastic all expenses paid weekend stays for two to help celebrate our relaunch.

“When we opened Tigerlily we wanted to bring something fresh and new to Edinburgh’s vibrant social scene. We know delivered on that aim – and in doing so, positioned Tigerlily as the pacesetter for Scotland’s stylish bars and restaurants.

“Tigerlily is still an extremely successful operation but after nearly a decade of leading the way we know we need to keep evolving and this is the right time to make significant changes to transform it into an even better venue that appeals to all.

“We’re confident our customers will be impressed by what we’ve created.”

Acclaimed designer Jim Hamilton, who conceived the original design, has been recruited to lead the creation of the new-look Tigerlily.

The complete makeover will see changes to the George Street venue’s lay-out, interiors, and décor – as well as its dining and bar menus. It will create individual areas that are aimed at being equally appealing for people who want to eat and drink.

David continued:  “The refurbishment will create the perfect hybrid venue – a great bar, a great restaurant and a fantastic hotel that seamlessly moves from breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night drinking.

“We will create a visually stunning – yet fun – venue with incredible food and drink offerings, combined with superb customer service that will be accessible to the widest possible audience – everything from local businesses, to young professionals and students, to shoppers and after work drinkers.

“And as Montpeliers has been a family-run Edinburgh business for more than 20 years, we think no one knows better than us how people in Edinburgh want to enjoy themselves and have fun.”

The venue – which has been closed for 11 days to complete the refurbishment – employs 100 people (including 10 new staff) under the lead of General Manager Ross McGregor.

David added that a range of other plans and marketing initiatives – including celebrity chef tables, cocktail masterclasses, taster packages, as well as a unique loyalty scheme – are in place to continue to ensure Tigerlily maintains its value and appeal.

Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd operates a portfolio of units in Edinburgh which include Opal Lounge, Ricks, Lulu, Montpeliers of Brunstfield, Candy Bar and Indigo Yard.
